Parent Council – The AGM takes place on Monday 19th September at 7.15pm in the school library.

60th Birthday – Halkirk Primary School is sixty years old this year!  There is an event arranged for Saturday 22nd October for former pupils.  This is during the school holidays but classes have been asked to do a wall display for their visit.  Former pupils are very welcome to visit the school at any mutually convenient time.  Please get in touch with us.

Charity Committee – The committee has decided that they would like to do Blythswood Boxes this Autumn.  We will have a speaker from Blythswood at assembly later this month and will give out more information about what is required.  We had an amazing response last time we did these.  Classes will make up boxes too.

Dental Health – Each child will soon receive a free toothbrush and toothpaste from Colgate and the British Dental Association – very handy for sleepovers, or for a Blythswood Box!

Parent Afternoon/Evening – This takes place on Wednesday 5th October and appointment slips will be given out in due course.

Homework – Thank you for your support with Homework.  This should be checked and signed upon completion.  Most children in P1 to P3 in particular will need quite a bit of support with reading, phonics and number work.

Lates and Unauthorised Absences – As you are no doubt aware, the Scottish Government’s top priority is Education and head teachers are expected to reduce the school’s lates and unauthorised statistics.  The data base we use is accessed by Highland Council and the government.  Your support is appreciated.

School Term Dates – Please note that Thursday 22/9 and Friday 23/9 are In-Service Training days and school will be closed to pupils.

Christmas Show – Yes I know we don’t really want to hear the ‘C’ word just yet but some families have to arrange time off work so the dates are as follows: the afternoon of Wednesday 14th December and the evening of Thursday 15th December.  Last time we did two shows the same day and felt it was too much for the children.

Swimming Lessons – Schools have still not heard when swimming lessons will resume.

October Holidays – School will close on Friday 7th October and open again for Term 2 on Monday 24th October.
