Half Term – School will be closed to pupils on Monday 20th February, Tuesday 21stFebruary (half term holidays) and Wednesday 22nd February which is an In-Service Day.

Parent Council Bingo Night on Saturday 25th February at 6pm – If you are available to help on the night, please let Vivian know.  Donations of baking should be brought to school on Friday during the school day or Saturday when arriving at the event.  Sincere thanks to Philip Coghill who once again is giving up a Saturday evening to be our Bingo Caller.

Class Photos – Photos will be taken on Tuesday 7th March.  If you do not wish your child to be in a class photo, please let us know.

Curricular Mornings/Afternoons – Dates for these events are as follows: Tuesday 4th April from 11.30 to 12.30 and Friday 31st March from 1.45 to 2.45.  We hope that by offering a morning and an afternoon that families will be able to come along to one of these sessions.  Extended families, friends and child-minders are welcome to come along too.

Reading Challenge and Literacy – Thank you to everyone who has brought in a ‘Get Caught Reading’ (P4 to P7) picture.  Children can still bring in pictures. There are lots of smiles as pupils queue for lunch and see the photos.  We have also heard a number of book recommendations at assemblies.  The First Minister’s Reading Challenge is proving popular.  We are delighted to have secured the author Linda Strachan to come and speak to all classes in May.  Linda is the author of Hamish McHaggis, Greyfriars Bobby, Spider and other popular books.  She will speak to P1 to P3, P4 and P5 then P6 and P7 on Tuesday 16th May.  More information here:    http://www.lindastrachan.com/

Children of all ages benefit from discussing their reading at home with an adult.  We don’t expect families to work their way through the entire book in one sitting but even a section read together or ‘turn-about’ is time well spent.  Here are some suggestions:

Cinema Visit – This will be arranged for the last week of term.

Easter Holidays – School closes at the normal time on Wednesday 5th April and opens again on Monday 24th April.
